Blue Chair Bay Rum Presents "Hit Makers & Rum Chasers"

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (June 24, 2014) – Blue Chair Bay Rum, a collection of premium-blended rums created on the shores of the Caribbean, is on board as the presenting sponsor for “Hit Makers & Rum Chasers,” the seasonal songwriter series at the Reichhold Center for the Arts in St. Thomas, USVI.

Hit country music songwriters return to the island on Saturday, July 19 for the third “Hit Makers & Rum Chasers” event featuring acoustic performances by Danny Myrick, Marti Frederiksen and Paul Jenkins. Previous hit-maker performances have included Kent Blazy, Tim James, Kendall Marvel, Phil O’Donnell and Even Steven.

“We are proud to support the Hit Makers project, and nothing goes better with a great song than a great cocktail made with one of our Blue Chair Bay Rums,” said Mark Montgomery, CEO of Fishbowl Spirits, parent company of Blue Chair Bay Rum.

“Blue Chair Bay Rum perfectly epitomizes the laidback island lifestyle that helps draw these great songsmiths to ‘Hit Makers & Rum Chasers’ and so many visitors to the beautiful US Virgin Islands,” said promoter Carolyn Miller, president of Nashville-based 343 Agency. “The brand is the perfect fit for this songwriter series.”

Danny Myrick has written a number of hits including Craig Morgan’s “International Harvester” and 2009s most played country song, “She’s Country” by Jason Aldean. In 2011 and 2012, Myrick enjoyed radio success with Chris Cagle’s “I Got My County On” and Tim McGraw’s “Truck Yeah.” He has also penned songs for Gloriana, Big and Rich, Montgomery Gentry and Joe Cocker, and co-wrote and co-produced The Farm’s debut CD including its first single “Home Sweet Home.”

Marti Frederiksen sang lead vocals in several signed alternative and rock bands in the '80s and '90s. His songwriting and producer talents caught the attention of legendary A&R executive John Kalodner who introduced him to his now longtime collaborator, Aerosmith. Frederiksen co-wrote and produced the album Just Push Play giving him his first taste of worldwide songwriting success with the hit “Jaded.” This paved the way for writing with Def Leppard and Mick Jagger, then producing “Cry” by Faith Hill, and working with Sheryl Crowe, Pink and Eminem. Fredericksen is now an award-winning songwriter and producer crossing all genres with hits including Ozzy Osbourne’s “Dreamer,” Sorry” by Buckcherry, “Love Remains the Same” by Gavin Rossdale, Carrie Underwood’s “Undo It” and “Mama’s Song,” and “Crawling Back to You” by Daughtry.

Paul Jenkins is a Grammy-nominated songwriter whose compositions have sold in excess of 10 million copies. His songwriting credits include Blake Shelton’s “Over,” Thomspon Square’s “If I Didn’t Have You,” and Jason Aldean’s smash hit “Don’t You Wanna Stay,” a duet with Kelly Clarkson.

In addition to Blue Chair Bay Rum distributed by Glazer’s Premiere Distributors, “Hit Makers & Rum Chasers” is sponsored by Virgin Islands Lottery, Southland Gaming, Westin St. John, Eco Green Caribbean, 93.5 Caribbean Country and Love City Radio.
