"Hit Makers & Rum Chasers" Songwriter Series to Return to The Reichhold Center for the Arts, St. Thomas, USVI, Mar. 22
NASHVILLE – (Feb. 4, 2014) – Hit Country music songwriters will return to the U.S. Virgin Islands on Saturday, Mar. 22 at 7:30 p.m. for the second installment of “Hit Makers & Rum Chasers,” the seasonal songwriter series happening at the Reichhold Center for the Arts in St. Thomas. The series debuted on Nov. 23, 2013.
The Mar. 22 "Hit Makers & Rum Chasers" (HMRC) round will feature acoustic performances by returning songwriters Kendell Marvel and Phil O'Donnell, and hit-makers Tim James and Even Stevens, who make their HMRC debut.
“The writers were so warmly received back in November,” said event promoter Carolyn Miller, president of Nashville-based 343 Agency. “There’s such a rich appreciation for Country music in the US Virgin Islands and the writers seem to embrace that as much as the beautiful weather, gorgeous beaches, and friendly people.”
Kendell Marvel wrote "Twang" for superstar George Strait and landed seven songs on Jake Owen's first two albums including the hits "Yee Haw," "Startin With Me," and "Don't Think I Can't Love You." He co-wrote "That Lonesome Song," the title cut on Jamey Johnson's GRAMMY-nominated album, “Right Where I Need to Be" by Gary Allan, and has had songs recorded by Trace Adkins, Blake Shelton, Joe Diffie, Josh Turner, Randy Houser, Lee Ann Womack, Colt Ford and more.
Grammy-nominated songwriter Tim James co-wrote the five-week No. 1 “My List” by Toby Keith, the Bucky Covington Top 10 “It’s Good To Be Us,” and the Lost Trailers smash debut “Holler Back. James has had cuts by platinum selling artists Darius Rucker, Craig Morgan, Chris Young, Montgomery Gentry, LeeAnn Womack, Joe Nichols and contemporary Christian artist Point of Grace. James penned the Trace Adkins single “All I Ask For Anymore,” which was nominated for a Grammy in 2009 for “Best Country Song,” and the 2010 Billboard Song of the Year, “Love Like Crazy,” by Lee Brice. James also wrote the Rodney Atkins single “He’s Mine” and the recent No.1 George Strait single “Give It All We Got Tonight.”
Phil O'Donnell's songwriting credits include George Strait's 60th No. 1 radio single "Give It All We Got Tonight," Montgomery Gentry's "Back When I Knew It All," Craig Morgan's "Love Remembers," "I Got You," and "More Trucks Than Cars," Joe Diffie's "Tougher Than Nails" and songs recorded by Blake Shelton (including his new single, “Doin’ What She Likes,” Darius Rucker, Easton Corbin, Josh Thompson, Justin Moore, Scotty McCreery, Brad Paisley, Trace Atkins, Billy Ray Cyrus, Travis Tritt, Gretchen Wilson, Randy Travis and many more.
Even Steven’s songwriting career spans many stylistic borders from the multi-platinum international hit, “When Youʼre In Love With A Beautiful Woman” by rockʼs Dr Hook, to the three week running #1 Pop hit, “ I Love A Rainy Night” by long time partner and superstar, Eddie Rabbitt. He has accumulated an unprecedented 53 BMI Awards, being named a “BMI Songwriter of the Century”, for writing songs like: “Drivinʼ My Life Away” & “Step By Step”-Eddie Rabbitt, “Love Will Turn You Around”-Kenny Rogers, “Crazy In Love”-Conway Twitty, “Black Coffee”- Lacy J Dalton, “Round & Round”-Kenny Chesney and “Suspicions”-Tim McGraw.
